Pastoral Support

All students have personal tutors and have regular one-to-one meetings with them. The tutorial programme supports academic and personal needs, whether students want to progress into Higher Education or prepare for future employment or training. A personal tutor will meet regularly with every student to talk about:

  • Setting SMART targets which will be regularly reviewed at tutorial
  • Challenging and stretching students to reach their full potential
  • What happens after the course, whether students plan to move to a higher level course, employment or training
  • Study and assessment skills
  • Support needs

If a student is struggling to meet our expectations, the tutor will be closely involved in resolving any issues. Student progress reviews will be held as appropriate during the course, but, in addition, there will be opportunities for review at Parents’ Evenings, to which students and their parents/guardians are invited.
